In June 2011, Ashley Marriah Lambert was on her way to the airport when a short text message changed her life. She was on her way to pick up her mother at the airport and, after missing her exit she sent a quick text to tell her mom she would be a bit late. When Ashley looked up from her phone, a cement wall filled her view.

"I swerved and I went into the other lane and I over corrected," Ashley said.

Thrown out of control, Ashley's car crashed into the wall, flipping the vehicle six or seven times. Ashley was severely injured and spent the next several days in the hospital recovering.

"One second and everything changes...your whole life," Ashley says. She hopes her story will act as a wakeup call to teens and young adults, reminding them to wait to text.

The contest has ended.
